Precautions to be taken while giving pomegranate juice

There is a risk of choking by pomegranate seeds and all precautions should be taken to strain the seeds away from the juice before giving it to the child. The juice can be given to a baby as young as eight months old, though a look out should be kept for any allergic reaction and if you are unsure, consult your paediatrician.

Healthy Pomegranate Juice

Little hands need to be kept busy. Why not let them help you take out the juice of a pomegranate. It’s fun and the reward is a glass of delicious juice.

Things you need

Pomegranate

Knife

Food grade ziploc plastic packet

Wooden rolling pin

Glass

Strainer

Method

Cut the pomegranate and remove the seeds.

Place the seeds in the ziploc packet, flatten it, removing all the air in it and closing it tightly.

Lay it flat on the kitchen counter and roll the rolling pin over the seeds in the packet.

Keep rolling till you see the seeds have been removed of all their juice and pulp.

Still in the packet, collect the seeds in one corner and pour the juice out through a strainer into a glass.

Drink it as is or add some rock salt.

Enjoy
